Preparing for Brazil, Part One

Hey everyone! I’m glad to be sitting and writing again, I’ve had a fairly exciting couple of weeks recently. I’ve been doing school work, helping out with my church’s vacation Bible school, and (of course), preparing for my upcoming trip to Brazil! And by upcoming, I mean two-to-three days. I am feeling both nervous, and excited. Thankfully, our trip got pushed back a few days, which means my family has more time to prepare. This is going to be my first trip out of the country, as well as my first missions trip, and I just wanted to say very quickly to everyone who’s supported me:

Thank you so much! 🙂

It has been so wonderful getting so much encouragement and support! I am now fully paid and have completed almost all of the requirements I was given, and thus am now almost ready to go. As part of my thanks for helping me out, I wanted to share some of the things I’ve had to do in order to get ready to go to Brazil with my Youth Group. If your interested, please feel free to click here. Read more

My First Missions Trip

Hi there everyone!  This is your friendly blogger buddy, and I want to tell you some exciting news: I’m going with my youth group on a missions trip to Brazil! We’re heading to Recife (pronounced ruh-SEE-fee), from July 1st through July 18th to help out a summer camp, Camp Paradise.

Camp Paradise is a Christian youth camp where we will spend the first week doing things like:

  • helping with activities for the junior campers
  • cutting down an invasive species of palm tree
  • doing the dishes (all by hand)
  • painting buildings
  • sharing our testimonies and speaking in chapel

The second week, we attend camp alongside the Brazilian campers. We’ll be able to get to know the Brazilians and their culture on a more personal level while we also learn about God. Read more

Hello Again Everybody!

Hello world!  Goodness, it’s been a while since I last did a post, hasn’t it?  The last one I remembered releasing was the one about Eevee and Co., and today I learned that I actually had posted another chapter of Between the Shadows.  Oh dear.  Before we kick off this celebration, I suppose I have some explaining to do. Between The Shadows: Chapter Sixteen

Behold, Between the Shadows!  That’s right, I have finally gotten around to finishing the rest of the story, as it was originally written.  A.K.A., I realized that I wanted to publish all of this before I got much farther along with the Crowsville Chronicles with Max, and also that I wouldn’t have enough time to rewrite it and publish it before certain facts became relevant.  I personally recognize that this isn’t my highest quality of work, partially because it was some of my first, and so I hope you pardon some of my poorer choices I made before.  For those of you interested, read on!  May you enjoy your adventure through space and reality. Pokemon Numbers 6, 5.5, 5, 4.5, 4, 3, 2, 1.5, and 1, Eevee and the Eeveelutions!

EeveeWhoa, what a mouth full of a title, hmm?  Anyways, welcome to the final post of Pokémonth!  Before we begin talking about my most favorite of fluffy creatures, I just want to clarify that if I didn’t want to have all of the “eeveelutions” in one post, Mewtwo would’ve been bumped up all the way to PKMN #3 on my list, right behind Umbreon and this puffball to my left here.  Now, on with the post!

Meet Eevee, the Evolution PKMN!  Eevee is a Normal-type, with a weakness only to Fighting-types, and an inability to harm Ghost-types.  Eevee is 1′, with the common abilities Run Away and Adaptability, or the hidden ability Anticipation.  Eevee has a very unique and almost flimsy genetic code that allows them to have the largest variety of PKMN evolutions in PKMN history.  Normally I like to write my posts with the PKMN in order of my list, but since all of the other PKMN in this post are “eeveelutions”, otherwise known as evolutions of Eevee, I figured it would be good to cover the base ‘mon first. Pokemon No. 7, Mewtwo

MewtwoAh, the mighty Mewtwo.  Mewtwo is the Genetic PKMN, with the common ability Pressure, or the hidden ability Unnerve.  She’s a 6′ 7″ Psychic-type PKMN, with weaknesses to Bug-types, Dark-types, and Ghost-types, but she also has strengths against Fighting-types and Poison-types.

Mewtwo is my Favorite Legendary PKMN, but she also has one of the saddest beginning stories in the PKMN series, and the rest of it has been a variety of ups and downs.  However, I like to think that lately, Mewtwo’s life has taken a turn for the better, and here’s why. Read more

Pokemon No. 10, Ampharos, Pokemon No. 9, Empoleon, and Pokemon No. 8, Arcanine

So, I kind of realized that I’ve run out of time to talk about one PKMN per day, and so the last of these will be covered as such.  Of course, there is an upside to this anyways, it’s time for some of my favorite PKMN!

Check it out, it’s Ampharos*!  Ampharos is the Light PKMN, as well as an Electric-type, ampharoswith the common ability Static or the hidden ability Plus.  She is 4′ 7″, with a weakness to Ground-types, but a strength against Flying-types and Water-types.  Pretty sweet, right?  The only problem is, Ground-types and their moves are pretty easy to come around, so that can put a major damper on the mood.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Amphy is completely useless!  Woops, sorry guys, I guess that slipped out.  You see, these three PKMN I’m going to talk to are my three Favorite Common PKMN.  I’ve trained all three of these, sometimes multiple times, and I’ve made special memories with each one.  For instance… Read more

Pokemon No. 12, Absol, And Pokemon No. 11, Yveltal

Welcome to another meeting of the Misunderstood Pokemon club, our two members will be meeting shortly.

AbsolFirst, we have the great and noble Absol.  Absol is unjustly known as the PKMN of disaster, and the fact that he’s a Dark-type doesn’t help his case.  He’s 3′ 11″, with weaknesses against Fighting-types, Fairy-types, and Bug-types, but a strength against Ghost-types and Psychic-types.  He comes with the common abilities Super Luck or Pressure, or the hidden ability Justified; he also has the ability to Mega Evolve.  As you might have guessed, I have placed Absol in the Misunderstood Pokemon category, along with one other friend of his.  But, before we start talking giant, flying, destruction-bringing turkey, let’s get to know Absol a bit more. Pokemon No. 13, Lapras

Lapras_Pokemon_Mystery_Dungeon_Explorers_of_Time_and_DarknessBehold, the graceful and mystical Lapras.  Lapras is known as the transport pokémon because of her tendency to escort people in need across large bodies of water.  With a big, caring heart and a unique ability to understand human speech, Lapras have been trusting the human race for years; if only that trust wasn’t misplaced…but I’ll get back to that later.  Lapras is a 8′ 2″ Ice and Water-type pokémon with weaknesses to Fighting-types, Rock-types, Grass-types, and Electric-types, but she also has strengths against Fire-types, Ground-types, Rock-types, and Grass-types.  That’s a lot of power for one sea monster!  She has the common abilities Shell Armor and Water Absorb, or the hidden ability Hydration.  If I had to put her in a category, I would have to place her in the Best Representation of A Real World Monster.
